Overview

A Geotechnical Engineer is a client oriented Geotechnical specialty coalition. AGE is committed to quality design and quality assurance with a timely customer response. AGE is positioned to respond quickly in support of your unique Geotechnical challenge from our location in Western Arizona. A permanant laboratory and field lab can mount sustained efforts to provide supporting data for environmental, earth materials, and earth structural design projects.

Benchmark Procedures

AGE qualified scientists have formulated numerous benchmark procedures and specialty equipment designs, from technology development starting in the late sixties continuing through the present. The following is a partial list of proprietary technology:

1. Wire line Sampling tools for above and below the water table.
2. Retrieval techniques for screw-in casing.
3. Drill hole stabilization in dry sands using air mist additives.
4. Swift, time saving techniques employing field fluorescent analysis utilized on petroleum based products found in soils and liquid.
5. Non destructive testing methods to obtain densities in rock and rocky soil.
6. Instrumental procedures with tri-axial seismic sensitive strain-stressed transducers used specifically on rock roadway cuts and open pit mine slope monitoring in Arizona, California, and Nevada.

Equipment Available
AGE currently utilizes state-of-the-art field and laboratory equipment for soils, design, testing, and sampling. We have adapting a data collection system for legal defense using instrumentation employing EG&G GEOMETRICS Geophysical equipment.

If your project is unique, custom tools can be designed and fabricated in our thirty-five hundred square foot electronics, machine, and equipment facility. This fabrication facility has been used to design & construct drilling equipment, skid mounted rigs, and specialty trucks & trailers. AGE has also served as the final assembly location for solution tanks, rock bins, cyclones, hydro-cones, pond liners, PVC stripper tanks, and Pachuca agitators.

What is a Geotechnical Engineer?

A Geotechnical Engineer relates the earth sciences and geology seismology to applied engineering. Geotechnical Engineers often become associated with the foundations for civil engineering construction undertakings such as highways, dams, canal & waterfront projects, and open pit & underground mining. Other major areas of involvement include:

1. Hydrocarbon Remediation by pumping or mining as oil, tar sand, or coal.
2. Hazardous Waste Management, including Bioremediation.
3. Groundwater and Water Resources Engineering.

Geotechnical Engineering involves the processing, construction and excavation of non-renewable resources. Through education, training, & experience a Geotechnical Engineer is obligated to be a true Economic Conservationist. The wise use of non-renewable resources requires careful attention to a total development schedule. Rocks and minerals are unlike other resources, such as timber, where replanting will bring forth lumber with in a few score years. Rock and mineral replacement requires considerably longer.
